*Staff Updates, IUB

Effective November 4, Lori Duggan accepted the position of Electronic Resources Acquisitions Assistant, Technical Services, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Lori worked as Acquisitions Control Coordinator in Technical Services.

Effective October 22, Sara Beutter accepted the position of Circulation Assistant Supervisor/Assistant Stacks Supervisor, William & Gayle Cook Music Library, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Sara worked in the Music Library as an hourly employee. She has a B.A. in Music from Butler University.

Effective November 4, Kieran Blackwood accepted the position of Stack Supervisor, Customer and Access Services, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Kieran worked at Borders Books, Music and Café in Bloomington.

Effective October 28, 2002, Garett Montanez will join the IUB Libraries as the Undergraduate Library Services Electronic Systems Coordinator.

Before joining the IUB Libraries he was the Systems Librarian for the Garrett Public Library in northern Indiana. Garett completed the IU Bloomington SLIS dual degree program and has a Master of Library Science and a Master of Information Science. While a SLIS student, Garett worked as UGLS Reference Assistant and Saturday Supervisor, and as the UGLS Collections Assistant.

*InSLA Program -- Creating Value-added Research & Analysis

Announcing an upcoming program sponsored by the Indiana Special Libraries Association (InSLA).

The meeting will include an update on InSLA's mentoring project. For more information on this project, please contact InSLA's Director-At-Large, Margaret Hentz at mhentz@dow.com.

What: Quantum Lecture: Creating Value-added Research & Analysis

Program Description:
This session is about value-added research and analysis - what it is, and why it's so important in today's business environment. In a six-step process, learn the "how to's" for creating value-added research and analysis. The session will also examine best practices for creating value-added research and content, and take participants through a practical exercise to develop new skills.

Quantum professional development programs are sponsored by the Dialog Corporation. Our presenter will be Patricia Currie Blume, Dialog Information Consultant.

Taking Your Web Site To The Next Level
Indianapolis, Indiana

Is your Web site getting confusing?

Do you get lost on your own Web site?
Perhaps you are tired of the same old format and want
to offer users more interactivity.
Issues having to do with your Web site design and security
will be addressed at the Fall meeting of IOLUG.

Our keynote speaker is Mollie Freier, ALA hit speaker and Research and Instruction Librarian at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. She will address issues concerning user driven design and working with those responsible for your libraries' Web site design and implementation.

In a later session, she will also explore "influencing the Web committee, even if you aren't on the committee." Jim Hammons, Associate Director of Library Automation Services, Ball State University, will wrap up with an overview and demonstrations of the latest trends in Web site design and functionalities.

Go to Indianapolis and take I-465 to the north side of the city. Exit onto Keystone Avenue (431) and head north. Get into the right hand lane for an immediate right turn (east) onto 96th Street (1st stoplight after I465 interchange). Turn right (south) onto Priority Way Drive (2nd stoplight on 96th). Follow the road as it curves to the Indiana Wesleyan University Education Center. It is on the right hand side. Parking is available on all sides of the building.
