*Staff Updates, IUB

Effective February 15, Patty Vahey resigned from her position as Reference/Technical Associate with the Indiana University Libraries. Patty was half-time in the HPER Library and half-time in the Life Sciences Library.

*Technical Services Analyst/Programmer position filled

I am pleased to announce that Carlton Stokes has accepted the position of Technical Services Analyst/Programmer, effective 2/18/02.

After working as the Slavic Bibliographer's assistant for almost two years, Carlton transferred to the old Serials Department in the spring of 1998 and took a position in the Check-in section. While there, he processed new receipts and pursued the acquisition of missing materials. When the opportunity arose at the beginning of 2000, Carlton moved to the Area Studies Unit in what had by then become the Technical Services Department. In Area Studies, he worked chiefly as a Slavic Copy Cataloger, but has also ordered Slavic materials and processed exchange receipts when needed.

Throughout his time in Tech Services, Carlton has served with the other volunteer DCSCs to provide the department with computer support. He has gained a great deal of technical expertise and brings a rich and varied background to his new position in Technical Services.

*Round Robin Resume Review

What: Round Robin Resume Review sponsored by the Indiana Chapter of the Special Library Association.
Location: IUPUI University Library, 755 West Michigan St., Indianapolis, Room UL 1126.
Date/Time: 6:00 p.m. Wednesday February 27, 2002.

Library students and mid-career professionals are invited to register! This years Round Robin Resume Review is intended to inform and assist librarians just entering the profession, but also those considering a job or career transition.

Short presentations on the job market and issues in making a job/career transition will be made by several speakers: Dr. Danny Callison, Associate Dean of the new Indianapolis SLIS program, will talk about life after SLIS. Representative of IUPUI Career Center, update on the regional information/technology job market. Sally Neal, who came to IUPUIs University Library this fall from DePauw University, will talk about her career transition. She is now serving as a science librarian after seven years working as a instruction/reference librarian at a small liberal arts college.

4:30 p.m. Board meeting (open to all)
6:00 p.m. Casual dinner/networking
6:30 p.m. Presentations
7:00 p.m. "Round-Robin Resume Review" begins
8:30 p.m. Adjournment

Background on RRRR:

Unlike traditional mock interviews, the "Round-Robin Resume Review" is designed to give SLIS students and other job-seekers the chance to gather LOTS of job-search feedback VERY quickly from SEVERAL different viewpoints, all in one evening! It also enables the reviewers to scan the horizon for fresh talent. Above all, it offers all participants the opportunity to develop mentor relationships. Plan now to take advantage of this unique event! Librarians from a variety of events will participate. These individuals will serve as "resume reviewers." Who knows: Some may even be recruiting for full-time or internship positions! (Job-seekers: Bring lots of resumes! SLA members: Bring lots of business cards!)
