Welcome to the Fall semester! Here’s the schedule for the first LAL meeting for this semester.

Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm on Fridays
Our first lab meeting will be on Friday, August 24. We’ll talk about attending MwALT this year (September 22, 2018) in Wisconsin, Madison, and discuss Green (2014). See you this Friday!
We will have a reading group meeting this Friday, April 20, at 1:30pm at BH807, which will be our last LAL meeting this semester! Bihua Chen will lead a discussion on the following paper:

On April 6, Senyung Lee and Vaishnavi Mukundhan won the Technology and Computing graduate category of the 2018 Women’s Research Poster Competition, hosted by Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWiT)!
The title of their poster is “Automated scoring of argumentation in L2 learners’ writing using machine learning techniques”.

Dr. Shin, Ryan Lidster, and Senyung Lee presented their paper “The effects of different English varieties on listening comprehension test” at American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) in Chicago this year!
Dr. Shin, Senyung Lee, and Yena Park attended Language Assessment Research Conference (LARC) 2018 at the Iowa State University and presented their paper entitled “Exploring rater behaviors on handwritten and typed reading-to-write essays using FACETS”!
