Discussion
| Communication and Class Discussion | I like to maintain contact with each member in the class. Therefore, you need to write to me about once a week. Give me a progress report on what you are doing, or send in a reflective journal and application from your Notebook. My e-mail address is cotton@instruction.com and you may write to me any time throughout the class. Because we are not able to meet face to face, we need to meet in cyberspace and email is the method that we use to meet each other. It’s great fun. OnCourse We will be using the OnCourse website at https://oncourse.iu.edu. If you are new to OnCourse (as I am) you might want to access the help page at https://oncourse.iu.edu/help/. Play with the OnCourse website and become familiar with it. We will be using OnCourse for all class messaging, chats and notes. Consider OnCourse as the discussion list for the class. Since we cannot meet face to face, OnCourse will serve as a forum for class discussion, as well as being the quickest way to reach the other students in the class all at the same time. I will use OnCourse as well as a class mailing list throughout the semester to make announcements, share URLs, etc. To make discussion work, you will need to contribute to OnCourse at once a week by sharing portions of segments that you have created, sharing websites you have found, concerns you have, lesson plan ideas, etc. But before you get started on of the course segments, please introduce yourself to the class using the listserv. Write a short biography of who you are, where you live, what you teach, what you want to learn from the class. Tell us about family, hobbies, and anything else of interest. Also, when you register, please post your picture. OnCourse
is the place you use to communicate with others in the class. It
is the place you will send segment responses before your
send them
to me. It is the place where you get feedback on ideas. It is
the place where you can ask for ideas…and it’s the
place where you can solve problems. OnCourse, when it is used well,
is
a good
source of information and is an integral part of the class. Please
use it often. |
