Recording Assignment Instruction
Note: You have to work in Ballantine Hall 115, 117, or 118 to have your recording properly. You can get access to the recording assignment from any computer that is networed in campus, but then you need to make sure that you are working on Sanako Light in recording the assignment because otherwise the questions will be erased from the file.
Instruction for recording your own voice and creating audio files:
To access the Language Lab Media Server in Ballantine Hall (BH) 115:
- Start > Right Click on "Computer".
- Click on "Map network Drive"
- In "Folder" box, enter \\bl-llab-media1\collect$
- Click on "Finish"
Now you will have that drive available as another drive on your computer.
To create a new file:
- Double Click on the "Sanako Media Assistant Duo" icon on the desktop to start the digital recorder (works like a tape recorder).
- Put headset on and click on red "Speak" button on recorder panel, record your voice.
- Press "Stop" to end recording.
To find an assignment:
- Find Korean folder in the Media1 Server "collect$ on bl-llab-media1," and the course folder (e.g. K101, K102, K201, K202, etc.), and the assignment folder (e.g. Recording Assignment #1, Recording Assignment #2, etc.).
- Double click open the file, which should activate the application "Sanako Media Assistant Duo" on the computers in BH 115 and 117--if it activates an application other than "Sanako Media Assistant Duo", e.g. Window Media Player, then quit the application, and double Click on the "Sanako Media Assistant Duo" icon on the Desktop. This is why you may want to work in BH 115, 117, or 118.
- Put headset on, please move the stereo tap to the right to avoid echoing in the recording, click on red "Speak" button on recorder panel, and record your voice.
- Press "Stop" to end recording.
To save your recording:
- Click on "File" in the Menu bar, and click select (clikc on) :Save as"
- Browse through and find Korean folder in the Media1 Server "collect$ on bl-llab-media1", double-click-open Korean, and then find the course folder, and then the folder for a given assignment (e.g., Ex#1)
- Enter your Last name as the "File Name" and selet "mp3 file " under "Save as type"
- Click "Save"
You have now completed your recording.
Caution: Before you submit the file, please check your answers to see if it is audible, if there is any clipping particularly at the end, and/or if you are satisfied.
