• 어느 날 해질 무렵 나그네 한 사람이 들렀다.

TASK: Ask and respond to a question on the following items; use ~(으)ㄹ 무렵 in your response.

• The most beautiful time of the year
• The best time of the day to jog
• When of the day you feel the most tired
• When you met your best friend
• The best time of your life

Used mostly for a ending that is emotionally engaging (often regretable one).

• 마당을 거닐던 거위 한 마리가그것을 그만 쪼아 먹고 말았다.
• 주인공이 마침내 나쁜 사람들한테 잡히고 말았다.
• 나는 이번 학기에 꼭 A를 받고(야) 말 거예요.

TASK 1: Talk about your experience that ended up in your regret.

TASK 2: Give a vow about your firm pledge to a goal to achieve.

• 하인들은 나그네를 꽁공 묶어서 주인앞에 끌어다/잡아다 놓고 소리쳤다.
• 겨울에 불을 때려고 장작을 사다/구해다 놓았다.

• 내가 하루만 불편하게 지내면 될 걸 나 때문에 거위가 목숨을 잃게 할 수는 없지요.
• 요즘 한국 가는 비행기표가 비싸대요. 지난 번에 세일할 때 살 걸 (잘못했어요)/지난 번에 세일할 때 살 걸 그랬어요.

Translation exercises from the textbook:

• 3일이면 끝나 버릴 걸 (가지고) 그렇게 모두 걱정하고 있었어요.
  => They/we all were worried when it would be over just in three days.
  
  
• 그 사람이 그렇게 빨리 풀려 날 걸 (가지고) 신문에서는 그 사람이 사형 당할 것으로 보도되었어요.
  => When he would be released/exonerated so early, it was reported in the newspaper that he would be executed.
  
  

TASK 1: Give your regrets. Specify what you wrongfully did.

TASK 2: Pair up. One person says s/he is going to do something. The other is to discourage him/her by saying the alternative is supposed to happen instead.

A: 저 이번 주말에 장 보러 시카고에 가야겠어요. B: 인디애나 폴리스에서보면 될 걸 뭐 하러 시카고까지 가세요? (Why bother going to Chicago when you could do it in Indianapolis?)

• 어제 새로 나온 책이 있나/있을까 해서 책방에 들렀더니 별로 읽을 만한 책이 없더라구요.

  승희: 가을 엘 없어서 쟈켓 하나 살까 해서나왔어요.

TASK: You run into your partner on the following circumstances. Engage in a dialogue. Use ~는가/(으)ㄴ가/(으)ㄹ까/나 해서 in giving your reason. Expand a dialogue creatively and spontaneously.
