 * You are still responsible for all the other vocabulary that occur in the main texts (conversations and narrations), but you should definitely learn the above by heart.

Attention!

1. No spelling error please. I hate to deduct your points on spelling errors:
   Make sure you are able to write all the words and expressions free of spelling error. Do not rely on your background knowledge or aural competence. This is something you should make efforts to improve.
   
2. Get familiar with the main texts (conversations and narrations): Give yourself dictation quiz from the lab audio. My advice is 'Memorize them all IN WRITING'.


3. The midterm consists of the following:

• There will be a listening comprehension section that deals school life and campus. Get familiar with the content of Lesson 2, Conv. 2 & Narration, and Lesson 3 Conversation 1).
• 한글: Recognize a final consonant, a common vowel, words that sound similar (공/콩, 불/뿔/풀, 싸요/사요, 자요/짜요/차요], 맛있어요/마시세요/멋있어요, 좋아요/추워요), and arranging words in the oder they occur in dictionary
• Connect nouns with an appropriate adjectives, and write a sentence with a proper form of the subject particle -이/가.
• Particles: Go over the uses of the particles -은/는, -도, -이/가, -에, -에는, -에도
• Describing the location of objects and people. Make sure you know the relation terms: 앞, 뒤, 옆, 위, 밑, 안
• Conversation: Make sure you are able to utilize the Honorific Ending ~(으)세요 properly, and use names or titles to address and/or refer to someone when a pronoun is used in English..
  • Be able to write the date, day, and your phone number in Korean.
  • Given a response, you will be asked to construct a question. You need to know the question types such as: 뭐예요?, 뭐 해요? 어디 있어요?, 어때요?
• An essay: you are to write about yourself including your name, school year, ethnic identity, your major, IU campus, and your breakfast practice. You should start with '안녕하세요?' and use the conjunction 그리고 at least once.
