James E. "Doc" Counsilman

Sunday, January 4, 2004 at 5:30 a.m. theCounsilman Center for the Science of Swimming's namesake, James E. "Doc" Counsilman passed away peacefully in his sleep. "Doc" was 83.
The former Indiana University coach was perhaps the greatest coach/scientist/innovator in the sport of swimming.
