Lecture #29

1. Two-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA)

Able to write appropriate SAS commands to carry out a two-way ANCOVA analysis

Can interpret results from SAS printouts based on two-way ANCOVA

Kirk's notations used for two-way ANCOVA

Terms to learn: adjusted means, post-hoc comparisons of adjusted means

Concepts from SAS printout: LSMEANS, STDERR, PDIFF

2. Test of equal-slope assumption in ANCOVA

(a) Plot the data by treatment groups between the covariate (X) and the dependent variable (Y)

(b) test the equal-slop assumption with a SAS statement

(c) Distinguish between derived from the same data set, and carry out a test among these three .

3. Assignments:

(1) Review Sections 15.1-15.4 in Kirk.

(2) Do problems 2, 7, 8, 9(a), 9(b), 9(d), 10(a), 10(b), and 10(d) of Chapter 15 in Kirk.
