    Southwest Florida Council for Social Studies Teachers Regional Conference (February 1996, 1997, 1998) Presented six workshops on the culture, language, politics, and history of China. Titles included The Chinese Language, Elementary China, Xianggang Hui Gui: Chinese Perspectives, Multimedia China, The Lee County Chinese Program, Chinese Culture Resources.

    Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (April 1996) : Presented workshop, The Lee County Chinese Program, narrating the development of the program in all phases.

    Florida Council for Social Studies State Conference (October 1997) Presented The Return of Hong Kong from Chinese Perspectives.

    AAAL Annual conference ( April 2002) in Salt Lake Utah. Presented paper on Bilingual Elementary Students Strategies Usage in Problem Solving (written with Simich-Dudgeon)

Service/Outreach Projects

    Chinese Cultural Perspectives (June 1994): Co-organized and presented in four day workshop for Lee County teachers on Chinese Culture.

    National Standards For Chinese Language K-12 ( 1998) Participated in the final drafting of these language specific goals for Chinese.

    Curriculum Committee: Chinese Language Association of Secondary and Elementary Schools (1999-present) Part of a task force for the implementation of the Foreign Language Standards in Chinese.

    Southern Region Coordinator: Chinese Language Association for Secondary and Elementary School (1999-present) Responsible for regional representation in policy meetings on CLASS governing board.

Honors/Awards

    Fulbright Hays Scholarship for Teachers, "China, Tradition and Transformation"(June to August 1994): Awarded scholarship to travel and study throughout China (Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Xianggang, Guilin, Shenzhen, Wuhan, San Xia).
