Research Areas

My research interests are focused on Supply and Demand for Educational Personnel in the United States. More recently, I have become interested in the standards movement and teacher education reform in the state of Indiana. As a member of the Educational Placement Consortium(Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana) we have focused our interest on research on testing policies for initial licensing of teachers in the United States. Annually, an updated document is published and made available to all teacher education institutions. Another long term interest lies in the development of partnerships among schools, community agencies, parents and higher education. During 1999, I had the opportunity to develop and implement the first year of a large Title II Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant awarded the Professional Standards Board. The Grant provided $8 million in funding for a three year project designed to ensure that each student is taught by a qualified well prepared teacher.
