Research Areas

I am a life-span developmental psychologist with interest in applying knowledge of human development to various areas of eduation and human services. My work for the past 15 years has emphasized adult development and aging. I teach courses on these topics, as well as doing research, and consulting with community agencies. My current research interests include: aging in persons with lifelong developmental disabilities, especially mental retardation, and focusing on both physical change and cognitive change with age; using intergenerational relationships in schools to create a sense of community (shared responsibility); factors related to life satisfaction in China, Australia, and the US. Director, Center on Aging and Aged.
