Teacher Leaders
Select Cadre
The purpose of the Select Cadre Leadership Team is to be the major district resource helping with professional development for elementary mathematics teachers. Each of the nine IMI districts has identified teachers from Grades K-6 who have expertise in planning, implementing, and supporting exemplary teaching of mathematics in the K-6 classrooms. The Select Cadre Leadership Team, along with other trained mentor teachers will design and facilitate mathematics workshops, and coach and/or mentor colleagues in their respective district.
Middle School Liaisons
The primary responsibilities of the middle/high school liaisons are to be in the information conduit among elementary, middle, and high school teachers concerning mathematics curriculum strategies and materials, and to promote communication among elementary, middle, and high school teachers concerning mathematics curriculum strategies and materials.
IMI Assessment Teams
The Assessment Team consists of Select Cadre Teachers who assist teachers with balanced assessment. This team produced a collection of assessment opportunities (click HERE for the document) for teachers to use to help them meet their learning goals.
Mentors
During the final years of the grant, as workshop activity slowed, the responsibility of training new teachers and sustaining the work of the grant fell to the districts and the teachers who had been active during the first few years of the grant. Many teachers became mentors for their peers during this period, and the grant provided support for this practice as a means of aiding the transition to long-term, district-led, sustainable professional development.
