Tools for
Administrators
[ Top ]
With the current context of NCLB and
PL 221 legislation, the IMI project, through its commitment to alignment
of exemplary curricula with classroom instruction and comprehensive
assessments, offers administrators the tools (customized to each
district’s context) to deal with significantly challenging compliance
demands.
 |
The main tool IMI offers its district administrators is a workable
on-the-ground system of teacher professional development resources
aimed
at producing the highly qualified teachers that state and federal
mandates require.
Included in these IMI resources is the identification
and training of teacher-leaders, intensive content training of all
teachers, and collaborative activities with parents and other
stakeholders. |
 |
Assessment plays a central role in IMI’s
teacher professional development. Understanding assessment as a
critical component of classroom instruction provides a framework for
teachers to align their instruction with state standards and
statewide assessments. |
 |
Another major resource developed by the IMI project that offers a great
potential benefit for administrators is its use of technology and the
Internet in developing an electronic community for teachers’
professional development. |
