Hutton Honors College
— LABYRINTH Gets Organized, Begins Accepting Submissions
|
LABYRINTH, the Honors College literary
magazine, will hold its second organizational meeting Wednesday, November 7
at 8:30
p.m. at the Wright Food Court (Dunkin' Donuts side). Anyone interested in
joining the staff
should attend the meeting. The staff consists of Honors College students who meet
informally about once a week to discuss work submitted by Bloomington undergraduates.
Student facilitators oversee the editing process but the staff ultimately decides
what will be published. Alicia Prater and Beth Clifford are returning as facilitators
this year. Prater, a senior, describes LABYRINTH as "a fun way for students
of any major to participate in a literary and artistic endeavor." Past issues
have included poetry, prose, short stories, and black and white photography.
Every year, the LABYRINTH staff includes both old and new faces. Some staff members spend several years with the magazine. This is Clifford's third year and Prater's fourth. "Some of last year's staff have already expressed an interest in participating this year," Prater says. Many freshmen sign up during welcome week to be notified about LABYRINTH and end up participating, but upper classmen also decide that they would like to be a part of the magazine. There is no particular class standing or course schedule required. Anyone who is interested, but cannot make it to the meeting should email laby@indiana.edu. LABYRINTH is also currently accepting submissions from any IU Bloomington undergraduates for the Spring 2002 publication. Any poetry, prose, short stories, and non-fiction narratives can be sent to laby@indiana.edu or placed in the LABYRINTH mailbox at the Honors House at 324 N Jordan Avenue. Any original photography or art (only published in black and white) should be placed in the LABYRINTH mailbox at 324 N Jordan. The latter will be returned after publication; however, written work will not be returned. All work remains the property of the writer or artist. Be sure to include appropriate contact information. The submissions are judged anonymously. LABYRINTH is an annual publication of the Indiana University Honors College. To contact LABYRINTH, email laby@indiana.edu Posted October 30, 2001. |
