— Dean of the Honors College to Retire

After serving Indiana University as a professor in the English Department for 38 years, and dean of the Honors College for the past eight years, Lewis H. Miller, Jr. will be retiring at the end of December, 2001. A recipient of several distinguished teaching awards, he has been instrumental in significantly expanding the Honors College's offerings. He was the founding director of the nationally acclaimed Liberal Arts and Management Program and was an associate dean and acting dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. As a Lilly Foundation Fellow, he was an account executive and copywriter at Chiat/Day, a major advertising agency. In addition to his own poetry, he has published widely on British and American authors, especially Robert Frost. His most recent teaching and research interests have included Advertising and American Culture and Joyce's Ulysses. Next summer, he and his wife will be moving to the Boston area to be close to their children and grandchildren.
