6:45 p.m.: Preview Talk and Birthday Celebration at Honors House, 324 N.
Jordan Ave.
7:30 p.m.: Performance at Ruth N. Halls Theatre, Followed by Curtain Talk
For the fun of it, join us for a celebration at Honors House of the Cat in
the Hat’s 50th Birthday, with birthday cake and a pre-performance talk by
English department faculty member Ray Hedin, followed by a performance of
the IU theatre department's production of Seussical
the Musical.
Seussical, which debuted on Broadway in 2000, brings to the stage
many of
the characters from Dr. Seuss' beloved books, including Horton the
Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Yertle the Turtle, and the Cat in the Hat
himself. You are also welcome to attend the post-performance curtain talk
with members of the cast and production staff.
Among the courses Hedin has taught are ones on children’s literature and
making meaning through stories. He also directs IU’s Individualized Major
Program and is interim director of Collins Living-Learning Center.
