In the context of international affairs, which issues, which crises, which
countries most worry the
French government and the French people? What are seen as the biggest
challenges? The greatest risks?
How has the election of a new president in France affected its approach to
European and world affairs?
How might the election of a new U.S. President affect relations between
the United States and Europe?
How is the changing population of France affecting its role in the world?
How powerful should the UN
become? How influential should the European Union be? In the midst of a
war on terrorism, how can
human rights be protected? The discussion with Philippe Moreau Defarges
can range as widely as the
interests of the students who attend.
A specialist on European affairs and global governance, Moreau Defarges is
a senior research fellow at
the French Institute of International Relations in Paris. His fields of
expertise include European
integration, globalization, environmental issues, and international law.
He has served in several

Law, and Immigration, and currently holds the rank of plenipotentiary
minister. He is also on the
