Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 * 6:15- Approximately 7:45 p.m. * Musical Arts
Center
SIGN-UP REQUIRED * Refreshments Provided
To produce something spectacular on the night of a performance, dancers
put themselves through intense training in ballet classes and rehearsals.
Join ballet master, choreographer, and chair of the IU ballet department
Michael Vernon for a discussion of what it takes for a dancer to make
magic on stage, and then watch part of the dress rehearsal for the Fall
Ballet. The program will feature works choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky,
Isadora Duncan, Michel Fokine, and Vernon himself.
Trained in England, Vernon
danced with the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera Ballet and has
choreographed pieces performed by the American Ballet Theatre, Baryshnikov
and Friends, BalletMet, and others in the United States and abroad. He
has also choreographed for musical theatre, including productions of
Cabaret, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and
My Fair Lady, as well as for numerous commercials.
