Thanks to the generosity of Edward L. Hutton, the Hutton Honors College
will soon have a new home at a new location. A beautiful limestone
building will rise at the corner of 7th and Woodlawn, across from Dunn
Meadow, and will include a seminar room, collaborative work space and
quiet study space for students, a great room for extracurricular events,
office space for Honors student organizations, and new offices for all
Honors staff and administrative personnel. The building is planned to
open in fall of 2008.
Please join us, and Mr. Hutton, on October 17 as we dedicate the building
cornerstone. The time capsule it will hold will include, among other
things, current Honors students' names and fun facts about Honors.
Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a reception in the IMU,
where you will have an opportunity to meet and talk with Mr. Hutton. He
is an enormously interesting and engaging man, and a great benefactor to
IU, so you shouldn't miss this opportunity. Honors faculty and staff,
including the new interim dean of the Hutton Honors College, Jean
Robinson, will also be there, as will the Bloomington provost, Karen
Hanson. Please RSVP to provrsvp@indiana.edu by Friday, Oct. 12.
