We are almost constantly exposed to music, sometimes by choice, often
through means beyond our control. What does such exposure do to our
brains and our bodies? Does whether or not you are a musician affect the
way you hear music? What makes a musician a musician? Does your brain’s
response depend on whether you are trained as a classical or a jazz
musician? – or are a country or R&B fan? What role does music play in
getting your attention? – on your ability to remember? – in shaping your
attitudes?
Join us for an evening in the lab with two IU researchers – Professor
Karin James of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and
Professor Robert Potter of the Department of Telecommunications – who are
studying the brain’s and the body’s responses to music. Get an inside
view of IU’s renowned brain imaging facility and gain a “heads-on”
experience of the technology being used to conduct such research!
