On December 3, 2006, 8 p.m., IU Auditorium welcomes the internationally
recognized, Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Famous for
rehearsing and performing orchestral repertoire without the use of a
conductor, their practice of sharing and rotating leadership roles in not
only unique, but central to the group's philosophy on creating music.
In addition to their performance, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will hold
a special leadership seminar the following day, Monday, December 4,
2006, at
11:00 a.m. in the IU Auditorium lobby. The topic will be their
copyrighted "Orpheus Process." An inspiration well beyond the musical
community, this approach to working in groups has been employed by
esteemed business schools such as Harvard, Columbia, and Yale, in addition
to corporations such as Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Through their
unique seminars, Orpheus has forged unprecedented links between business,
music, and the humanities.
Lunch will be provided following the seminar. To reserve your spot at the
seminar, please RSVP no later than Friday, December 1, to Jessica Baxter
at jelbaxte at indiana dot edu. Also, please
contact Jessica Baxter with questions, or to purchase your tickets for the
performance. Student tickets to the performance are $15 (and may also be
purchased directly from the IU Auditorium Box Office). The seminar and
lunch are free.
