Since its premier in 1787, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni has remained one of the most popular operas of all time. Widely regarded as "one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed," its depiction of the legendary Don Juan is renowned. The comic, yet dramatic tale paints a picture of a heroic, seductive, unrepentant lady's man who is confronted for his deceitful ways and is faced with a fiery descent to hell if he refuses to change. Will he be condemned, or repent?

Joins us for a 6:30 p.m. pre-performance talk by C. David Higgins, master scenic artist, staff designer for the IU Opera Theater, and chair of the Department of Opera Studies in IU's Jacobs School of Music. Professor Higgins' designs have enriched productions in the United States and abroad, and you will see his new production for Don Giovanni at the 8 p.m. performance.
