An Art Work in ProgressStudio/Gallery Lunch with Canadian
Environmental Artist Diana Lynn Thompson
Art is all around us-- in the leaves on the trees, in the sand on the beach, in the stones on the ground-- but often goes unnoticed. Artist Diana Lynn Thompson works to change that. With her ephemeral works of art, she strives to highlight the beauty of the nature that surrounds us by pointing out the uniqueness of objects that are often passed over, by enumerating the individuals in a multitude. She unites her audience with her art and the natural world. She seeks to do no harm to the environment, as she attempts to replace all that is "borrowed," and many of her masterpieces are temporary and immediately washed away. Ms. Thompson will be visiting campus to install a piece in the School of Fine Arts Gallery exhibit "Human Nature: The Natural World." She will explore the local area to gather material. During the lunch, you will have the chance to view her work in progress and talk with her about her creative process before the exhibit officially opens on October 20. "Human Nature: The Natural World" will be on display through November 18. Ms. Thompson will also be giving a public lecture on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. in Fine Arts 102. |
