John Kelsay's research and writing have focused on religious ethics,
particularly in relation to the Islamic tradition and to political life.
Among his books, he co-edited Just War and Jihad: Historical and
Theoretical Perspectives on War and Peace in Western and Islamic
Traditions; co-authored Human Rights and the Conflict of
Cultures and
Sacred Quest: An Invitation to the Study of Religion; and is
working on projects that deal "with intersections between religion and violence in
the contemporary world." He is chair of the Department of Religion and
the Richard L. Rubenstein Professor of Religion at Florida State
University, is co-editor of the Journal of Religious Ethics, and has been
a Laurance S. Rockefeller Fellow at the Princeton University Center for
Human Values. The lunch is co-sponsored by the Wells Scholars
Program.
Professor Kelsay's visit to campus is

public talk on "Islam and the Political Future" on Thurs., October 6, at 4
