Dear Hutton Honors College Students,
You are cordially invited to the
HHC Mixer and Treasure Hunt on FRIDAY, FEB. 2, 2007, 4-5:30 p.m.
at IU's LILLY LIBRARY of Rare Books and Manuscripts
We hope you will come, with friends or on your own, for all or part of
the time -
to meet and mingle with HHC students, faculty, and staff
- to enjoy the library
- to test your powers of observation in a treasure hunt
On display will be some of the Lilly's treasures,
including major rare books such as
the New Testament of the GUTENBERG BIBLE
and
AUDUBON's Birds of America
- an exhibit of PLAYING CARDS, large & small, traditional
&
provocative
- miniature books
- an OSCAR
- a page from an illuminated manuscript
- PUZZLES from the Collection of Mechanical Puzzles,
Brainteasers, and Ingenious Objects, including ones that will be
available for you to try to solve, hands-on
- A special exhibition, The ART OF LEADERSHIP, which
focuses on
the career of Birch Bayh, a former U.S. senator from Indiana who
authored two amendments to the U.S. Constitution, including the one that
lowered the voting age to 18, and Title IX, which prohibits sex
discrimination in education. He served three terms in the U.S. Senate
and ran for the 1976 Democratic nomination for the U.S. Presidency.
The occasion is open to all! Bring your friends or come on your own.
On hand will be Lilly director Breon Mitchell, as well as HHC student
hosts who will start you on a treasure hunt.
No RSVP or sign-up needed.
