Precollege Programs

IU offers a wide range of programs for students in elementary school all the way up to high school. You can learn about things you enjoy, spend time on IU’s campus, meet people with similar interests, discover hidden talents, and—best of all—get a taste of the college life.

You can earn college credit in many of our programs, giving you a head start on earning your degree. Other programs are for sheer fun.

Spend Part of Your Summer at IU—or Overseas

Kindergartners up to high schoolers participate in more than 20 IU summer programs each year. You can hone your music skills, study overseas, get hands-on lab experience, and much more.

Discover the Wonders of Science

The College of Arts and Sciences offers several science programs for middle and high school students. You can conduct experiments, meet fellow young scientists, and maybe even win an impressive science competition.

Take High School or College Courses

  • IU High School offers more than 100 high school, dual credit, and advanced placement distance-education courses—many of them online. They’re a great way to take courses not available at your school, learn from home, or earn college credit.
  • Through our Advance College Project (ACP), seniors at select Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio high schools can enroll in college courses that take place at their schools during the regular school day, giving them a head start on college course work.
  • If you’re a high school student who lives near IU Bloomington, you can enroll in IU courses and receive college credit. The OPEN Program is for highly motivated and high-achieving high school juniors and seniors.

Experience Life at IU

IU’s Office of Community and School Partnerships offers several programs that give middle and high schoolers a taste of IU.
