The IU School of Education ranks among the top-ten education schools in the United States with strong programs in mathematics, science, and language education; higher education administration and policy studies; and instructional systems technology. Other areas of distinction include educational administration, counseling, bilingual-bicultural education, and literacy studies. Education faculty share their expertise in dozens of countries abroad through consulting and exchange programs. Formal programs have been conducted in China, Vietnam, Russia, Latvia, and South Africa in recent years, addressing issues of teacher training, higher education reform, and literacy development. These international activities have been supported and complemented by the following institutes: the Center for Research on Learning and Technology
(CRLT); the Indiana Center for Evaluation; the Institute for the Study of Russian Education; and the Social Studies Development Center.
