Introduction

You are viewing a set of World Wide Web pages called "Design for Interactive Media." These pages each contain information about a particular job in multimedia product development supplied by a professional who holds that job. We at IIRG! have undertaken this project to help graduate students in Instructional Systems Technology understand more about the real jobs that exist in multimedia product development, since many of them are very excited about the prospect of developing multimedia when they leave school.

We hope you will be able to help us with this project. If you can, just submit the request form at the end of this message. We anticipate this might take you 30-45 minutes (in fact, we'll check for typos later so you don't have to spend time e on that), although if you want to give a longer response the students will certainly consume everything you can provide -- they really want this kind of information! If you want to send us a picture of yourself by regular mail, we'll be delighted to scan it and include it on your page.

Thanks for your help!

Your Exposure on the Web

Of course we are aware that once a page appears on the Web it is available to a much wider audience than the one we are primarily concerned with reaching, and we will take the following steps to reduce any unwanted exposure you might face as a participant pant in this project:

How Was the Information Collected

We(the folks at IIRG!) send electronic mail to every professional multimedia developer we know asking the following question--
  • What is your job title?
  • What is the name of your company? Where is it located? How many people work there? How many work in multimedia development?
  • What types of projects do you work on?
  • What are the primary responsibilities of your job?
  • What are your most typically day-to-day activities in this job?
  • What are the skills you need for this job?
  • How did you get your job?
  • What would you like students in college to know about your job before they start looking for jobs in multimedia?
