Comments for College Students

Diversify. Don't get very specialized in one development tool, and ognore others. You are more employable with a little experience in a lot of different tools, than a lot in one. Develop a portfolio and/or demo disc. If you can, put some of your work, including writings, on a CD-R to send out with your resume (or on request). If you want to move up to leadership positions, take management and leadership classes or seminars. Practice making presentations to groups (maybe join Toastmasters). Publish or present at professional conferences (SALT, AECT, ASTD, ISPI, etc). Get involved in committees in these organizations while you are still a student.
