Introduction to Interface Design: The Electronic Lab Notebook: Analysis Notes on Traditional Lab Notebooks
![]()
The traditional lab notebook is permanently bound, with alternating white and yellow pages. The yellow pages are carbonless copies of the white ones, and may be removed from the notebook to make a flexible record of work. The white pages are permanent and serve as an authentic, confirmable record of the scientists' experiments and results.
The technician writes every step of a procedure out in detail before beginning to work on the procedure. The goals is to detail the procedure so thoroughly in the notebook that no thought is necessary to complete the experiment - only concentration. The procedure typically contains mechanisms for the scientist to mark off steps, and record results.| IIRG! | | Articles | Research | Links | References |
