Introduction to Interface Design: Individual Contractors
The individual contractor model for managing projects places one person, or a small group of people, in the position of coordinating and managing a variety of independent contractors.
This model is best suited to projects when the client understands the type of product to be developed and does not have resources in-house, or wants to create a product outside the scope of in-house resources. This model requires that the individual contractors be selected carefully, managed closely, and kept in communication with the primary designer on the project so the various elements being produced fit together smoothly.
