Introduction to Interface Design: Cooperative Model

model diagram

The cooperative model for managing projects distributes responsibility for management and communication in the project to a diverse team. One or more people may serve as the focus for project management, but everyone on the team participates in all phases of the project to a greater or lesser degree depending on the phase it's in.
This model is best suited to projects when innovative solutions are necessary, technology is new, and/or the organization has not produces a particular kind of product before. The cooperative model can take longer than the control model, although it can also realize a time savings in closer communication between team members. This model is closely associated with iterative design, which requires all team members to be active on the project in most of its phases.
