Why facilitate an in-service?

A major aspect of the ICP mission is to support ICP teachers in providing in-service workshops to ESL and content area colleagues. After successfully completing the intensive nine-month professional development program, ICP teachers are encouraged to share their knowledge and expertise with faculty, staff and parents in their schools.

ICP teachers are integral/vital contributors in their buildings and community, and they know the needs of their teaching environment better than outside consultants. Additionally, they are more accessible and can provide continuous support throughout the school year as needed. ICP teachers are in the most appropriate position to conduct in-services and follow-ups; essentially, they are the experts.

This component of the ICP website is designed to support ICP teachers in planning and organizing an in-service workshop. The recommended procedures can be followed directly or modified as needed. Below are links to literature on the topic of professional development and in-services:
