SHARE FAIR

The following Share Fair Activity comes to you from Tama Rickelman from North Spencer County School Corporation. Many school corporations are encouraging students to engage in sustained silent reading each day to improve their reading comprehension. How can teachers assess this reading in an informal manner, yet still keep students focused during this time?

Tama has used the attached BINGO card to ensure that students participate in active reading. The activities on the card are arranged in such a way that students must complete a variety of tasks designed to appeal to different learning styles. Here is a sample of the activities:

Draw a favorite scene from a fiction book.

Describe a new concept you learned about from a non-fiction book. (3-4 sentences)

Do a one minute retelling of what you read with a friend. Be sure to record your retelling on a piece of paper.
