Welcome to P200 - Needed Skills

What you need to bring/know:

• Textbooks, USB stick, notebook and pen or pencil
• Know your Student ID username and password

What we will do:

• Check Weekly Projects
• Begin finding P200 Buddies
• Confirm IU Computing Accounts - https://itaccounts.iu.edu/
• Use P200 Website & Oncourse
  • Begin About Me Survey
  • Begin Windows 7 @ IU
• Work in Oncourse to create My Workspace P200 folders
• Create P200 folder and subfolders on USB stick
• Practice submitting files for grading.
• Download and work on Windows 7 @ IU
  • Further Study
    • Using WordPad
    • PDF tutorial for students on using Oncourse

Needed Skills:

By working through the materials in Introduction to Computer Concepts, you will have gathered the Needed Skills for P200. You MUST have these skills or you will be lost in class. These skills are:

• Work on the Desktop
• PrintScreen
• Back-up work to USB stick and My Workspace
• Windows manipulation:
  • Alt-Tab
  • Minimize, Maximize, Restore Down, & Close buttons
  • Moving windows
  • Organizing windows from Toolbar
• Searching for programs, folders, and files from Start Menu
• Print in PowerPoint for paper saving
• Submiting your work for grading
• Downloading files
• Zipping and Unzipping files

We will be going over these needed skills throughout the first section of P200.

Lab Work:

• Work with instructor to create folders in My Workspace and your USB stick.
• Work on About Me Survey in Oncourse.
• Download and begin working on Windows 7 @ IU.
