Summer Study Abroad Program Application Process
To be eligible for the Summer Study Abroad Program to Ghana, HHSP scholars must:- Possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at time of application and demonstrate extracurricular involvement and/or giving baack to HHSP (Note: Special consideration will be given to applicants with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 - 2.99 with significant program and/or campus involvement)
- Meet all L.E.A.D. Initiative requirements, consistently
- Attend the pre-applicatin Ghana Informational in the fall semester before travel
- Complete the Application for Consideration in its entirety, including short answers
- Agree to the Participation and Honor Agreement, inclusive of codes of conduct
- Meet all financial obligations
- Attend spring orientations
- Comply with all expectations, deadlines, rules, and regulations of the program
To be eligible for the Summer Study Abroad Program to Ghana, Groups students must:
- Be of sophomore through senior standing
- Possess a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA at time of application and demonstrate extracurricular involvement and/or giving back to Groups
- Meet with the Groups Ghana Coordinating Assistant to be cleared for application
- Complete the Application for Consideration in its entirety, including short answers
- Agree to the Participation and Honor Agreement, inclusive of codes of conduct
- Meet all financial obligations
- Attend spring orientations
- Comply with all expectations, deadlines, rules, and regulations of the program

To apply submit the online Application for Consideration, from which invitations to participate in an Interest Reception will follow. An interview invitation from the selection committee will be sent to potential candidates following the reception. Participation acceptance offers will be extended prior to Winter break.
Once notified of acceptance into the program, particpants will be expected to:
- Complete all paperwork required by HHSP/Groups and theĀ IU Office of Overseas Study confirming participation, providing medical history, and acknowledging conduct standards
- Pay travel deposit, if applicable (HHSP scholars)
- Apply for U.S. Passport (must not expire within 6 months after travel to Ghana)
- Attend all pre-travel Ghana programming and orientation meetings
- Apply for other funding to offset expenses (e.g., Hutton Honors IEP or Research Grants)
- Apply for Ghanaian Visa (entire group will do together)
- Acquire necessary yellow fever vaccination and other vaccinations
