Social / Service Requirement
Hudson & Holland promotes social service and awareness through its mandatory spring service requirement. Engaging in service presents a terrific opportunity to get involved with different causes/activities on campus and in the community, while making a meaningful contribution. Community Service also provides students with another avenue to develop and hone skills, take on leadership positions, and gain professional experience in a field of interest. Such experiences have the potential to lead to professional contacts and future internships and/or employment opportunities.
Effective Fall 2009, all HHSP scholars will no long be required to complete forty hours of community service with a single organization. Instead, all HHSP scholars (regardless if they have completed 40 hours with a service organization) are required to participate in their choice of two HHSP sponsored service projects during the Spring Semester.
Car pooling is recommended but students are ultimately responsible for transportation to and from the service sites. The Hudson and Holland Scholars Advisory Council members will have a list of those who signed up for each sight and all Scholars must sign in with Council members at each site.
