"Not a Retreat But a Forward"

IU AGEP's workshop for graduate students held annaully in Jaunary.

This year's theme was Effective Presentations.

AGEP sponsors an annual opportunity for graduate students. This year took place on the IUB campus and hosted graduate students from IUB and IUPUI. The theme for this year was "Effective Presentations". It was held on Saturday, Janaury 22, 2011. Students participated in a full day workshop with other graduate students and faculty members. They networked over a hot lunch, practiced their presentation techniques.

The 2010 theme was "Effective Communciation" and the 2009 theme was "Effective Grant Writting for Scientific Research". "Not a Retreat But a Forward" brings Bloomington and Indianapolis students together with faculty and administrators for a day-long workshop on finding funding sources, proposing research projects, writing grant applications and more.

Sessions from past "Not a Retreats" include "Funding: types and tools", "Basics of grantwriting" and "Creating my personalized funding alerts". Material is presented by IU faculty and administrators. Session titles and presenters along with participant feedback are available for the 2008 and 2009 events.
