Indiana University South Bend, IUSB

In 1941, when IU South Bend (IUSB) enrolled its first student, that student was Mrs. Lyda Radford - an African-American graduate student. Today, IUSB has 18 graduate degrees including degrees in Nursing, Business, Education, and Liberal Studies. The following degrees highlight some of the degrees offered at IUSB.

The MS in Mathematics and Computer Science, offered jointly by these departments, addresses the needs of continuing and non-traditional students wishing to increase their expertise in computing and applied mathematics.

IUSB's MA in English has been a step in the right direction for students such as Jessica Kaiser, who was recently awarded a Presidential Fellowship to pursue the PhD in American Studies at Purdue University.

The MPA, or Master's in Public Affairs degree, assists students pursuing jobs in local government, hospital administration, and social service agencies.

IUSB's MA in Music in the areas of Performance or Composition allows specialized musical training beyond the undergraduate level. For example, piano students have the opportunity to study with Alexander Toradze, an internationally renowned keyboard virtuoso and distinguished professor of Indiana University South Bend. The Toradze Piano Studio is a unique phenomenon in today's musical world: its members often travel and perform throughout the world as a homogeneous musical group.
