We are excited to announce progress in our campaign to get dental care! Here's the story:
Decisions about what health care package Student Academic Appointees receive are made each year by a committee that includes graduate student representatives appointed by the GPSO, as well as faculty and administrators and so forth.
On September 15th, 2005 the GEO submitted its petition asking for dental coverage for graduate employees to President Herbert with over a thousand signatures. In response, the administration has agreed to grant GEO a representative on the committee which negotiates the mandatory health insurance plan for Student Academic Appointees. Julie Swando will represent us on this committee, which will begin its discussions in February 2006."
