I. Health care committee seat:
We received word from Paul Rohwer (GPSO mod.) that we are losing the committee seat we had last year, though Julie has been appointed
as a GPSO rep. and says she will consider herself an unofficial GEO rep. as well. Paul also said that he asked Theobald to tell us
directly that the seat was being taken away; Theobald apparently refused. How to respond?
Need to hold University accountable.
-send someone to committee anyway? after all, we were never officially told--it's a rumor till we get direct word.
-try to get them to put sth in writing?
-make a stink, before or after we've been officially notified? Force them to officially notify us first.
-email and ask them when the first committee mtg is, say we've got a rep for it?
-confront, either by email or in person?
Start with email, then escalate. Morgan will draft something and circulate it on this list before we send it from the GEO email
address.
Should we revise the letter to Theobald that we're having people sign to take this development into account? Use up printed ones
first.
II. Presentations so far:
Going pretty well; people don't seem to know who we are. Some signed up.
We were denied presentations or ignored by some who gave us presentations last year; suggests pressure from higher up?
III. Scheduling for early semester events: tabling/elections/mass meeting
At tables, have a separate signup for people who might be interested in running for officer positions--some document about elections
there.
All of us, talk to individual people about running for positions. Elizabeth will contact Jeff to see if he's interested in
continuing.
Elizabeth will make up some kind of document(s) about elections.
Mass meeting: Aim for Thurs. Sept. 28, 7 pm, IMU. Ursula will make room reservation. Sharyn will work on the flyer for it.
At mass mtg, talk about shift in strategy ("open-source" approach), possibility of dues, etc.; maybe publicize as a topic in vague
terms.
Need to use members for tabling--Morgan to check with stewards.
Tabling locations: Education (Th. 31) & Ballantine (T/W Sept. 5/6); Ursula & Elizabeth to get tables, respectively.
Elizabeth will send out an email to members inviting them to help with tabling as soon as all new names added--all send new names to
Jeff ASAP.
IV. Fundraising
Pizza selling in Ballantine--Avers apparently gives student groups a good deal--groups make lots of money.
T-shirts--did we decide on logo? Brian will fix colors. Probably just one logo, small on front.
V. Scheduling meetings for fall semester--Ursula will collect schedules.
