How will the Papers Be Graded?

  • Before grading begins I and the A.I.s will write out an explicit statement of what we think the question is asking for and a grading rubric that lays out the general criteria for each grade
  • We will read a number of papers together until we feel that we have developed a consensus on how to apply the grading rubric to individual papers.
  • The A.I.s will grade together, getting each others' opinions from time to time on atypical papers , and we will all meet to go over another set of papers
  • We will all discuss papers that have taken an unusual direction in responding to the question to allow for students who have a unique, but valid approach.
  • The definition of the question and the grading rubric will be handed out when the papers are returned.
