This week is officially centered around our "Fun with Gynecology Day." This event is designed to help educate others on the importance of visiting your Gynecologist. Many people out there, especially incoming freshmen don't realize the importance of having regular checkups, nor are they aware or the potential benefits of such a visit. As the title suggests, we are attempting to get rid of the the stigma of fear and nervousness that keeps many people either away from the Gynecologist or keeps them from truly benefitting from this useful service. Well, that is where the FMLA takes over and makes it wild with "Fun with Gynecology Day" which will officially be held on Tuesday, December 2nd in the Frangippani (how in the heck do you spell that one?!?!?) Room in the Union. There will be gender-bending cookie decorating, films, a photo oportunity with the giant-vagina, and possibly games and educators/entertainers.

The Central Black Student Union is holding a Debate on Abortion. Hopefully there will be some rearranging of the format and title of the debate to make it a more open experience for all. In theory, this is to be a debate which mirrors the ongoing public debate on abortion. There will be several FMLA members involved on the panel, and the event is open to questions and comments from the audience. We encourage your attendence to help educate and inform those who may not be informed on this very important issues. So, get informed, show up, and ask a few positive questions! If you have any questions about directions or about the debate email to fmla@indiana.edu

The Take Back the Night March will be our next big event. This is one of the most successful and exciting events that the FMLA is a part of every year. Take Back the Night is a nationwide event that has drawn massive support from all fronts. We will be leading the march this year, so make sure that the FMLA is well represented because we will be holding the banner and leading the chants! The march is on Thursday September 26 at 7:00 in Dunn Meadow. This years' keynote speaker will be Toby Strout who works with Middleway house. There will also be a vigil, the march (of course) , and speak-out at the courthouse. This is a huge chance to protest violence against women, so bring all of your friends and prepare to be heard in Bloomington! (For more information, click here.)
