Making a Life Decision
Oct 7, 2005

The dreaded string of tests is finally over and there is no other way to relax but retail therapy. On Sunday, I embarked on a blitzkrieg on the shops in College Mall, cashing in on cashmere pullovers and leather boots to battle the autumn chills. College Mall also hosts a splendid sweet shop that sells all sorts of flavored jelly beans. I purchased two pounds of popcorn-flavored jelly beans, and I think everyone should try it. It’s simply the best sweet I’ve ever tasted.
I recently quit the IU men’s swimming team. I just couldn’t manage the long hours at the pool and the cumulative homework. The physical exertion was taking a toll on my body and my studies. It was a tough decision giving up the sport I have participated in since I was 8, but I know swimming is not going to be my career—business is. I guess this is what people call “personal experience.” Life is full of tough decisions like these that keep you awake through the night and preoccupy your mind during the day. And it is choices and experiences like these that gear me up for the rough and competitive corporate world.
