Visiting ALPHA
ALPHA is part of the Center for Exploration of Energy and Matter (CEEM), a multidisciplinary laboratory performing research and development in the areas of accelerator physics, nuclear physics, and materials and life science. ALPHA is located at the Indiana University Integrated Science and Accelerator Technology Hall (ISAT Hall) at 2401 Milo B Sampson Lane. Community outreach is tantamount to ALPHA and thousands of visitors have enjoyed our warm welcome and generous hospitality. This page is offered in hopes of making your visit to ALPHA pleasant and productive.

Access to ALPHA

ISAT Hall is open between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The facility is closed for all major holidays. Authorized visitors may access the facility at any time. Casual visitors who wish to attend educational events or contact employees at ALPHA should enter the building at the main entrance on Milo B. Sampson Lane and discuss their needs with the receptionist in the lobby. He or she will be happy to accommodate visitors in any possible way. |

Recent re-evaluation of security requirements within the United States and within Indiana University have necessitated that visitors to ALPHA must comply with a few regulations before entering the research sections of the facility. Accelerators produce radiation and materials that have been exposed to this radiation may become activated. Compliance with our safety and security policies will make your visit both informative and safe. Public Tours
Guided, general orientation and customized tours are offered to persons who are interested in learning more about the history, research and other activities at ALPHA.
Tour Regulations:
- All tours must be pre-arranged.
- Tour members must be 13 years of age or older.
- Organizations need to provide adequate adult supervision during tours. There must be at least one adult with the group for every 10 participants 18 years of age or less.
- Other restrictions apply.

Opportunities to visit are also offered in association with special events such as the Department of Physics annual Open House.
