Accessing the CECM Server
We have a server available for students in this course, but only for storing
files relevant to the course. The server is not backed up, so you are
responsible for keeping other copies of your work.
Here’s how to access the CECM Server from Mac OS X.
- Click on the Desktop background to take you to the Finder (the
program that lets you manage files).
- Choose Go > Connect to Server.
- Below Server Address, enter...
cecm.music.indiana.edu
Type in your server password (not the same one as for your IU email),
and click the Connect button. If it rejects you, and you’re
sure you typed the right password, type your IU user name into the Name
edit box, and try again. Make sure the Caps Lock key is not on.
- The Users network drive icon will appear on the Desktop.
Double-click it, and open your own folder. The Shared folder, which
we use to access assignments and projects during class in 302, is at
the same level.
Once you’re done using the server, please disconnect from the
server by dragging its disk icon to the trash can (or right-click on the
disk icon, and choose Eject "Users").
Do not try to run a DP project from the server. Bad things will happen.
Better to eject the server so as to avoid any confusion.
