The DG team is in training for the 2012 Women's Little 500 -- Emily Leobig, Kirsten Powell, Kaycee Doogs, and Olivia O'dell.
The Little 500 is the premier intramural collegiate cycling event in the nation. Steeped in tradition and high on enthusiasm, this race and the surrounding weekend activities have earned the reputation of being the best of its kind anywhere in the world. Teams of four ride laps around a quarter-mile cinder track and exchange their bike to a teammate once too tired to continue. The race places fraternities and sororities, residence halls and independent teams in a battle for the ultimate bragging rights of Little 500 winner.
In 2011, Delta Gamma won the pole position for the first time. Going into that race, Delta Gamma ranked third in the all-time Women's Little 500
race results. The chapter has competed in 22 of 24 races; finished in
the top ten 17 times; and averaged placing 7.9. The first-place team is
Kappa Alpha Theta, and the second-place team is Kappa Kappa Gamma.
