Andrew Nielsen, class of 2013, is a junior majoring in Economics and Mathematics with a minor in Spanish. A student in the Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP), Andrew volunteers as a spokesperson and counselor for Camp Kesem – a free camp for children ages 6 through 17, whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer. He serves as an Undergraduate Intern for the Economics department in ECON-E370. As part of his work, Andrew developed a curriculum for out of class help sessions. His curriculum is taught three nights a week to Economic students throughout the semester.
Andrew is originally from Columbus, Indiana where he graduated with honors from Columbus North High School. He earned three varsity letters in football and track and was named an Academic All-State athlete. He also served as Treasurer of the Key Club, and was elected Student Body President his senior year. Andrew is a dedicated Chicago Bears fan, a Dave Matthews Band devotee, and a frequent blood donor. He enjoys spending time at his Michigan lake house with friends and family.
