Dance Minor

The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance offers an 18 credit dance minor that provides students with a broad range of study which can best fulfill their goals and interests. Dance minors work on technique and knowledge of the dance field by taking courses in dance history and theory and a variety of dance forms.

Additionally, the minor also allows students to explore various cultural and ethnic forms of dance and includes a rich selection of courses from associated departments, such as African Dance minors rehearsing.American and African Diaspora Studies, Ballet, and Anthropology. Performance opportunities include a student dance workshop, which takes place at the end of each semester.

Other performance opportunities include IN MOTION student dance company, the African American Company, Windfall Dancers, and opera and theatre productions. There is no audition necessary to declare a dance minor, however, certain advanced-level technique classes and performance opportunities do require an audition.
